The School District of Highlands County is accepting submissions from middle school students for the 2024 Art in the Capitol Competition. It is a statewide visual arts contest for all students in grades 6 through 8 attending public, private, and home schools in Florida. Each middle school in Highlands county will be submitting artwork to the district office for judging. One winner for the county will be selected. A reception for all students who submit work will be held at the District office on December 13th, 2024.
Winning submissions will be forwarded to the legislator of the student's respective legislative district. Each legislative district's winning selection will be displayed in the Florida State Capitol in Tallahassee during the Florida legislative session, January 2025 β March 2025. All artwork submitted must follow these parameters:
β’ All artwork submitted must not violate copyright laws.
β’ All artwork submitted must be original in concept, design, and execution.
β’ All artwork submitted must be two-dimensional.
β’ All artwork submitted must not exceed 28 inches wide by 28 inches long by 4 inches thick.
β’ All artwork submitted must include the studentβs name, grade, school, and city in which the school is located.
All APM student artworks that would like to be submitted must be turned into Mrs. Pierce in room 129 by December 11th, 2024. Only 1 submission will be sent per student. Please see Mrs. Pierce if you have any questions!

APM wanted to extend a huge thank you to APHS' Mrs. Barrett for coming and presenting to our 8th Grade CEO Class yesterday! The title of her presentation was "Level UP Challenge" and she explained to these 8th graders that their attitude, attendance, behavior & course performance now is setting them up for both High School and career success. Her final works to the students were "It starts now! Not Later!"

APM Families: Reminder that TOMORROW is Picture Re-takes . Students must bring their original picture packet with them if they want re-takes. Also, this is the time for students who were absent to get their picture taken as well.
